Profound Stupidity

I was perusing the iReports on CNN, and came across this little gem. About twenty seconds in is the most irritating thing I've seen in a while. And that's saying a lot.

It appears that some poor sucker came all the way from Ohio to D.C. to attend Pope Benedict XVI's mass. He got one of the highly prized tickets somehow. In fact, he claims it was a miracle that he got the ticket, although he doesn't give many details.

So, a divine intervention in the workings of the universe was made so this young man could go see the Pope. God reached down his hand and mucked about with random chance, just so this guy could come see an old man in red Pradas and a funny hat spread pseudo-platitudes to the masses. It was so important for this fella to be at that D. C. mass that a miracle was necessary to get him there, at least according to him.

Unfortunately, he lost it on the subway.

Notice that he doesn't call that any kind of divine intervention. That was just pure bad luck.

Frankly, I'm shocked that he didn't blame the devil.
