One Science Geek's View On Movie Protests

Christians of any stripe protesting The Da Vinci Code are akin to scientists protesting X3: The Last Stand. Sure, the science is horribly, horribly wrong in the X-men movies, but THEY ARE COMIC BOOK MOVIES! We don't expect verisimilitude because they're fantastical, even escapist, fiction. TDVC is adventure fiction that never once gives a wink & nod to the fact that it is, but that doesn't make it not adventure fiction, and thus also escapist.

So, Xians, give it a rest!

Funny and very true stuff ... Though I won't personally be going to see "Da Vinci Code," advocating mass boycotts of movies for any reason is plum ignorant .. here's hoping "Last Stand" just kicks ass!

See, it's perfectly okay to say you don't want to see a movie because it doesn't interest you. That's cool. Not to mention the free market in action. But to call for a boycott because it somehow offends your philosophy is just plain silly.

If others share your philosophy, they'll share your distaste for the film / book / song /play / tv show / what-have-you.

If they don't, then a shrill harangue won't help.
